Sherry Art Studio accepts students age 6 to 18 years old and some adult students. The class is taught in small group based on students age and artistic abilities. Many of Sherry's students came when they are 7 or 8 years old and stay till they went off to college.

The classes are designed to help student become independent in their ability to draw, paint and be able to use different art materials to compose an image. Sherry also very much encourage students to be creative in their learning. The emphasis on creativity is equally if not more than the craftsmanship of art making. Introduction:

Sherry Chen is an artist, illustrator and art educator residing in San Diego, California. She has overthirty plus years of experience as an artist and art teacher starting from her native country China.
Her artistic background is broad and her credentials are long. At twelve years old, Sherry passed the qualifying exam and entered the attached high-school of the internationally famous Szechuan Fine Art Institute, becoming the youngest student in the school's history. After graduation in 1981, she was accepted at the prestigious Central Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Beijing. From 1981 to 1985 she studied under many of China's leading contemporary masters like: 吴冠中,范曾,刘巨德 和著名插图家高燕.
You can view one of Sherry's work among many famous contemporary Chinese Book Art professors and designer from the 80's in the “Selections of Designing Works the Central Academy of Arts & Design, 1956-1986” which featured on the blog by an unknown American (Book Cover Design). All works at that time are hand drawn without utilizing the magic of computer graphics.
After graduation with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Book Design and Illustration, Sherry was accepted into the academy's very competitive graduate program under the guidance of 余柄南和邱凌the dean of the department and the highly respected professor. In 1987, Sherry then had the opportunity to study in the United States at the University of South Carolina under the master print-maker professor Boyd Sanders. She studied in Studio Art with a concentration in Printing-Making.
In 1989, Sherry relocated to San Diego and entered into then The United State International University. She started her private teaching studio in 1991 the first in the Chinese community of San Diego while also taught at the San Diego Miramar College for three years. Since then Sherry has taught hundreds of students and some of them has since entered into arts and design colleges and working in the fields of graphic design, architecture, fashion, interior design. And others had used their art portfolio to supplement their application into elite universities. What Sherry feel proud most is that these students are continuing their interests in art and express themselves through the practice of it.
Besides teaching, Sherry has won widespread acclaim after exhibits of work in various locations in the U.S., Japan, and Mexico. Her commissioned acrylics have been re-created as Art Posters by Front Line Art Publishing which sold on-line at art.com, allposter.com, and amazon.com. Her signature style C. Sherry has been exhibited and collected by many prominent business people in U.S. Her illustrations have been featured in a variety of children's books, magazines and newspapers.
